About Us

Lawrence Dry Cleaners is a well-established commercial laundry and dry-cleaning business providing high-quality garment care and industrial laundry services. We operate a range of advanced commercial laundry equipment, including industrial washing machines, tunnel washers, dryers, steam finishing equipment, conveyors, boilers, compressors, and automated laundry systems. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance functions of our operations and ensure the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of our plant and equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, implement and monitor engineering strategies, maintenance policies, and operational plans to maximise equipment reliability and plant performance.
- Manage the maintenance, repair and optimisation of industrial washing machines, commercial dryers, dry-cleaning machines, boilers, steam systems, compressors, pumps, conveyors and other mechanical and automated laundry equipment.
- Plan and oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs to minimise equipment downtime and extend asset life.
- Lead engineering projects involving installation, commissioning, upgrades and replacement of commercial laundry machinery and supporting infrastructure.
- Analyse equipment performance, identify operational issues, and implement engineering solutions to improve productivity, energy efficiency and operational reliability.
- Ensure all engineering works comply with Australian Standards, WHS legislation, environmental requirements and industry best practices.
- Prepare engineering budgets, maintenance schedules, capital expenditure proposals and monitor project costs and timelines.
- Manage external contractors, equipment suppliers and service providers for machinery installation, repairs and specialised engineering services.




- Provide technical leadership and support to maintenance technicians and production teams, ensuring engineering activities align with operational requirements.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency, reduce maintenance costs and improve equipment performance.
- Maintain engineering documentation, maintenance records, equipment specifications and compliance reports.
- Collaborate with management on future equipment acquisitions, automation projects and plant expansion initiatives.
- Investigate equipment failures, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventative actions.
- Ensure spare parts inventory and critical engineering resources are effectively managed to support uninterrupted operations.

Selection Criteria

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum two (2) years of relevant engineering management or engineering experience within a commercial laundry, manufacturing, industrial processing, production, maintenance or similar engineering setting.
- Demonstrated experience managing industrial mechanical equipment, preventative maintenance systems and engineering projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical controls, hydraulics, pneumatics and automated production equipment.
- Excellent leadership, planning and project management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
