About the role

We are seeking a Social Research Officer to provide expert leadership and guidance across the organisation. Working collaboratively with the Health & Social Policy team and internal stakeholders, you will strengthen Council’s capacity to use research and evidence to inform decision-making and achieve better outcomes for the community.

What you’ll deliver

Working across a diverse range of projects and collaborating with teams throughout Council, you will:

- Conduct social research, demographic analysis and community needs assessments to generate insights that inform Council decision-making.
- Transform complex data into accessible reports, dashboards and resources that support strategic planning and service improvement.
- Provide expert advice and build organisational capability in accessing, interpreting and applying research and data.
- Contribute to the development, planning, monitoring and evaluation of Council strategies, policies and programs to improve community outcomes.

About you

You’re a curious and analytical researcher who enjoys turning data into meaningful insights. Comfortable balancing reactive requests with longer-term projects, you thrive in a collaborative environment, manage competing priorities with ease and build strong relationships to influence outcomes.

You bring:

- Tertiary qualifications in social science, public health or a related discipline,



along with demonstrated experience in social research, demographic analysis and evidence-based planning.
- Advanced analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to provide evidence-based insights and recommendations.
- Strong communication skills, including experience presenting complex information through reports, dashboards and presentations.
- A collaborative approach and proven ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to deliver high-quality work in a dynamic environment.
