Acknowledge Education is looking for a full-time Academic Support Officer to join our team at our Oxford Street campus in Darlinghurst, Sydney.

This is a hands-on, student-facing role where you’ll work closely with students, Course Coordinators and teaching staff to strengthen academic skills, build confidence and provide targeted support when students need it most.

From facilitating engaging workshops and one-to-one support to helping students understand assessments, referencing and academic integrity, you’ll play an important role in creating a positive and supportive student experience. Job Description

The Prospect

Reporting to the Academic Support Team Leader, you’ll provide practical academic support to students across the trimester through workshops, individual support and targeted interventions.

You’ll help students develop skills in areas such as academic writing, research, referencing, assessment interpretation and academic integrity, including the appropriate use of Generative AI. You’ll also work closely with Course Coordinators and teaching staff to identify academic skill gaps and provide tailored support to students who may need some extra guidance.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working directly with students and can make academic concepts feel accessible, practical and achievable.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll have the opportunity to:

- Deliver engaging Academic Support Workshops throughout the trimester, covering areas such as referencing, paraphrasing, academic writing, assessment analysis and Q&A.;




- Help students interpret assessment briefs and marking criteria and strengthen their research, writing and referencing skills.
- Support students to understand academic integrity requirements and the appropriate use of Generative AI.
- Provide targeted one-to-one academic support to referred students.
- Facilitate open Q&A; sessions where students can seek guidance on academic challenges.
- Work with students who may be academically at risk, helping identify their needs, develop study plans and monitor progress.
- Partner with Course Coordinators and teaching staff to identify common skill gaps and tailor support accordingly.
- Connect students with other internal support services where their needs extend beyond academic skills.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting, quality assurance and continuous improvement.
- Support the Academic Integrity Team when required.

Qualifications

About You

You’re approachable, organised and confident working with students from a wide variety of backgrounds. You know that academic support isn’t about simply giving students the answer – it’s about helping them develop the skills and confidence to succeed independently.

You’ll ideally bring:

Essential

- A Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience delivering academic skills workshops or tutorials within a higher education or VET environment.
- An understanding of academic writing, referencing, assessment literacy and academic integrity.
- Experience supporting diverse student cohorts, including international students and students at risk.

Desirable





- At least three years’ experience in academic support or a related area
- Familiarity with the Australian higher education and VET sectors and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Strong facilitation, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to identify individual student needs and provide practical, targeted support.
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to manage recurring workshops and competing priorities.
- A collaborative, inclusive and genuinely student-focused approach.
