About Fort Healthcare

Fort Healthcare is a multidisciplinary allied health provider operating from several locations across Sydney. We deliver assessment, rehabilitation and therapeutic services through a team of allied health professionals.

To support the continued development of our multidisciplinary services, we are seeking an experienced Audiologist to join our Hurstville team. The successful applicant will provide evidence-based audiological assessment and hearing rehabilitation services while working collaboratively with clients, families, medical practitioners and other allied health professionals.

The Position

The Audiologist will independently conduct comprehensive audiological assessments, interpret clinical findings, prepare professional reports, and develop, implement and review individualised hearing management and rehabilitation plans.

The role requires sound clinical judgement, a high level of professional autonomy and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct comprehensive hearing and auditory assessments using appropriate audiometric tests and other clinically accepted methods and identify the nature and extent of clients’ hearing difficulties and related auditory concerns.

- Interpret assessment results, document clinical findings, prepare accurate and timely clinical reports, and explain findings to clients and, where appropriate, their families or carers.

- Recommend, develop and review individualised hearing management and rehabilitation plans, including amplification devices, assistive listening technologies, communication strategies and aural rehabilitation programs.

- Provide counselling, education and practical advice to clients and families regarding hearing loss, communication needs, rehabilitation options, device use and ongoing hearing management.

- Make appropriate referrals to general practitioners, ear,



nose and throat specialists and other health professionals where further medical assessment or intervention is clinically indicated.

- Identify clients who may benefit from cochlear implants or other implantable hearing devices, provide preliminary counselling regarding available options, and coordinate referrals to ENT specialists or specialist implant programs for formal candidacy assessment and follow-up care.

- Work collaboratively with medical practitioners, allied health professionals and external service providers to support coordinated and client-centred care.

- Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records, practise within demonstrated professional competence, and comply with applicable requirements relating to informed consent, privacy, infection control, clinical safety, equipment use and professional conduct.

- Contribute, where relevant, to hearing conservation, hearing health education, community awareness and noise-management initiatives.

- Participate in continuing professional development, clinical case review, service improvement, quality assurance and relevant clinical governance activities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must demonstrate:

- A bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Audiology, Clinical Audiology or another closely related discipline.

- At least eight years of full-time or full-time-equivalent professional experience as an Audiologist.

- Substantial experience conducting audiological assessments, interpreting audiometric and related clinical findings, preparing professional reports and managing clients with varied or complex hearing needs.





- Experience recommending hearing devices and assistive listening solutions, identifying when medical referral is appropriate, and developing and delivering individualised aural rehabilitation programs.

- Robust clinical judgement and the ability to manage a caseload with a high level of professional autonomy.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain clinical findings, hearing management options and rehabilitation recommendations clearly to clients and families.

- A sound understanding of professional ethics, informed consent, client confidentiality, clinical documentation and evidence-based practice.

The following will be favourably considered:

- Experience working collaboratively with medical practitioners, allied health professionals, carers and external service providers in a multidisciplinary allied health or primary healthcare environment.

- Experience contributing to clinical service development, quality assurance, case review or professional practice standards.
