About the Role and You

As a Lifeguard, you’ll play a vital role in creating a safe, welcoming and enjoyable environment for everyone who visits the George Town Aquatic, Health and Wellbeing Centre. You’ll actively supervise our aquatic facilities, ensuring patrons can enjoy the water with confidence while maintaining a strong focus on safety and customer service.

You’ll be responsible for responding to emergencies, performing rescues and providing first aid when required. You’ll also help maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the Centre, monitor water quality, set up equipment and ensure facilities are used safely and appropriately.

Working alongside Swim Instructors, Customer Service Officers and Fitness Staff, you’ll be part of a team committed to delivering a positive experience for our community. Position Responsibilities

- Actively supervise patrons using the aquatic facilities.

- Respond to emergencies and perform rescues when required.

- Provide immediate first aid and initiate emergency procedures.





- Promote safe behaviour and prevent misuse of Centre facilities.

- Provide friendly assistance and answer customer queries.

- Maintain clean, safe and well-presented pool and change room areas.

- Complete water quality testing as required.

- Set up and pack down equipment for programs and events.

- Report equipment, facility or safety issues and defects.

- Participate in training, meetings and professional development to maintain current skills and qualifications.

Selection Criteria

1. Relevant qualifications including a current Pool Lifeguard Certificate, First Aid and CPR certification, and Working with Vulnerable People registration or the ability to obtain.

2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact positively and professionally with patrons and colleagues.

3. Strong focus on safety and vigilance, with the ability to actively supervise aquatic facilities and respond appropriately to hazards and incidents.

4. Ability to respond effectively in emergencies, including performing rescues, providing first aid and following established emergency procedures.

5. Commitment to customer service, with the ability to create a welcoming, helpful and enjoyable environment for people of all ages and abilities.

6. Commitment to teamwork and professional development, including maintaining current lifesaving skills and contributing positively to the Centre’s operations and team culture.
