We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and resilient Disability Support Worker to provide person-centred care for an engaging young adult with autism.In this role, you will focus on building a robust relationship while helping the client develop their independence, manage daily routines, and safely participate in the local community.

Key Responsibilities
Behaviour Support: Confidently implement established Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans to safely manage and de-escalate behaviours of concern.
Skill Development & Independence: Guide and mentor the client in learning daily living skills, such as meal preparation, basic budgeting, and routine management.
Community Engagement: Assist the client in accessing the community, attending social events, engaging in hobbies, or using public transport.
Social & Communication Support: Provide a supportive workplace that fosters confidence, communication,



and social interaction.
Emotional Regulation: Recognize triggers and sensory sensitivities early to help the client navigate daily anxieties and prevent distress.
Documentation: Keep brief, accurate progress notes at the end of each shift to track goals, incidents, and milestones.

What We Are Looking For
Behaviour Management Skills: Proven ability and skills to effectively manage and respond to challenging behaviours with calm confidence.
A Person-Centred Approach: Someone who is genuinely passionate about helping young adults achieve their unique potential.
Empathy & Resilience: A calm, level-headed, and understanding demeanour under pressure.
Autism Experience: Previous experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum is highly regarded.

Job Type: Part time

Pay: $37.50 – $56.00 per hour
