About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Cook to join our kitchen team. Operating from the historic Rob Roy Hotel on Halifax Street, our restaurant provides a vibrant dining experience with a contemporary Asian-influenced menu. We are looking for a reliable Cook who takes pride in food preparation, quality and consistency and can work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team.

Key responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu requirements
Prepare ingredients, including washing, cutting, portioning and seasoning food
Operate grills, fryers, ovens, stovetops and other commercial kitchen equipment
Monitor food quality throughout preparation and cooking
Ensure meals are prepared consistently and presented to the required standard
Assist with stock rotation, storage and inventory control
Monitor ingredient levels and advise senior kitchen staff of stock requirements




Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and food preparation area
Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
Assist with preparation for functions and busy service periods
Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient service
Minimise food wastage and ensure appropriate portion control

About you
Relevant commercial cookery qualifications or equivalent practical experience
Previous experience working as a Cook in a restaurant, hotel or similar commercial kitchen setting
Sound knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
Understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices
Ability to work efficiently in a quick-paced kitchen
Valuable organisational and time-management skills
Ability to follow recipes, instructions and established kitchen procedures
A reliable, professional and team-focused approach
Availability to work across a flexible roster, including evenings, weekends and public holidays as required
