About the role

We are seeking an experienced, reliable and passionate Full-Time Barista / Café Manager to join our team at Little Sparrow QVB. Our café is a busy, established coffee-focused business located in Sydney CBD, using approximately 5kg of coffee beans on weekdays and 7kg on weekends, with a team of approximately 4–5 staff members working during peak periods. We serve specialty coffee, sandwiches, bagels and other light food items. No hot food cooking is required. The successful candidate will be a hands-on manager who can consistently deliver high-quality coffee, lead the team, oversee daily operations and maintain high standards of customer service.

Key responsibilities
Prepare consistently high-quality coffee in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain exceptional customer service and customer satisfaction.
Ensure consistency in coffee preparation, presentation and service standards.
Handle customer feedback and complaints professionally.
Manage staff rosters, shift allocations and daily staffing requirements.
Supervise, train and support baristas and café staff.
Monitor staff performance and maintain a positive, qualified working environment.
Ensure appropriate staffing levels during peak periods.
Oversee opening and closing procedures.




Oversee the smooth operation of the café.

About you
Minimum 2 years of Australian café/barista experience.
Previous experience in a café management or supervisory role.
Strong coffee-making skills and experience working in a high-volume café.
Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
Experience managing staff rosters and supplier orders.
Sound knowledge of POS systems and daily cash reconciliation.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of daily operations.
Strong understanding of Australian hospitality standards and food safety requirements.
Valid Australian working rights permitting full time employment.
Availability to work approximately 40 hours per week, with flexibility of around 5 hours depending on business requirements.
