We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer with a strong background in bulk earthworks delivery across mining and civil infrastructure projects for a 3-6 month contract.
n
This role is suited to engineers who take full ownership of earthworks packages — from planning and sequencing through to production, cost control, forecasting, and delivery outcomes. We are specifically looking for individuals with proven experience managing high-volume earthworks scopes, not engineers operating purely in coordination or support capacities.

The Opportunity
n
You will play a key role in the successful delivery of major bulk earthworks packages on a large-scale project based in Orange, NSW. The position offers genuine responsibility and autonomy, working within a structured project environment alongside an experienced delivery team.

Typical scopes include:

Bulk earthworks and mass haul operations
n
Cut/fill and haul road construction
n
Ground stabilisation works
n
Mining infrastructure and site development
n
TSF and dam lift construction
n
n
Roster & Travel
n
n
8:6 FIFO/DIDO roster
n
FIFO options available from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide
n
Initial 3-6 month contract with potential extension
n

Key Responsibilities
n
You will be responsible for the end-to-end engineering and delivery performance of assigned earthworks packages, including:
n
n
Managing bulk earthworks production, sequencing, and methodology
n
Developing and driving 4-week lookahead programs
n
Monitoring cost performance, forecasting, and reporting
n
Tracking quantities, productivity rates, and cost versus budget
n
Preparing accurate monthly forecasts aligned to project progress
n




Leading and mentoring Site Engineers
n
Developing practical work packs and construction methodologies
n
Managing QA/QC compliance and technical documentation
n
Liaising with client representatives and project stakeholders
n
n
About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate robust operational and commercial capability across large-scale earthworks projects.
n
Essential Experience & Skills
n
n
Proven experience delivering bulk earthworks packages on mining or civil projects valued at $20M+
n
Strong understanding of earthworks production, sequencing, and haul road/access road construction
n
Demonstrated capability in cost control, forecasting, and financial reporting
n
Experience managing lookahead planning and short-term programming
n
Leadership experience managing Site Engineers or junior engineering teams
n
Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification
n
Advanced Excel skills for cost tracking and forecasting
n
Experience using MS Project and/or Primavera P6
n
Full Australian working rights

Contractor-side experience on large earthworks projects
