About the role
n
Flexihire is seeking a qualified Mechanic to join our team in Townsville. Based in Garbutt, this full time role involves servicing, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining a range of diesel and petrol powered vehicles and equipment to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations.
n
Key responsibilities
n
Diagnose and identify mechanical faults in a range of hire equipment using diagnostic equipment and technical knowledge;
n
Carry out repairs and maintenance on our vehicles and equipment, including component replacements, and system servicing;
n
Perform routine servicing including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and general maintenance checks;
n
Test repaired vehicles and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards and operate efficiently;
n
Document all work completed, including parts used, time spent, and labour costs;
n
Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, adhering to health and safety regulations;
n
Assist with inventory management of tools, parts, and equipment;
n
What we're looking for
n




A recognised qualification in mechanics or automotive engineering, demonstrating formal training and competency;
n
Proven experience working with small petrol/diesel engines and equipment;
n
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to work methodically;
n
Proficiency in using mechanical diagnostic tools and equipment;
n
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship;
n
Good communication skills and customer service orientation;
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment;
n
Commitment to health and safety standards and best practices;
n
A valid driver's licence (preferred).
