Job Description

This is a hands-on role within a purpose-built facility, which includes dedicated spray booths, preparation stations and a paint mixing room. The primary focus of the role will be spray painting, surface preparation and finishing of semi-trailers and fabricated components.
About the Role n
You will be responsible for preparing, painting and finishing semi-trailers and components to a high standard.

Preparing steel and fabricated components for painting
n
Grinding, sanding and removing surface imperfections
n
Preparing surfaces using hand and power tools
n
Removing rust, contaminants and existing coatings
n
Preparing surfaces to the required standard prior to painting
n
Masking areas prior to painting
n
Mixing and colour matching paints and coatings
n
Applying primers, undercoats and finishing coats using spray equipment
n
Sanding between coats to achieve a quality finish
n
Inspecting finished work and carrying out touch-ups where required
n
Applying protective and corrosion-resistant coatings
n
Operating and maintaining spray painting equipment
n
Maintaining clean, safe and organised work areas
n
Working to production schedules while maintaining high standards of workmanship
n
Following all WHS, environmental and quality requirements

About You n




We are looking for a qualified and experienced Spray Painter who takes pride in their workmanship and is committed to producing a high-quality finish.
n
You will ideally have:
n
n
Trade qualification in Automotive Refinishing, Spray Painting or a related trade
n
Minimum
3 years' relevant industry experience
, or Certificate III with at least 2 years' relevant experience
n
Demonstrated experience in spray painting and surface preparation
n
Current Confined Space Entry certification – essential or willing to obtain
n
Current Forklift Licence – highly desirable
n
Strong understanding of the safe handling of paints, coatings and chemicals
n
Solid attention to detail and commitment to quality
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a production team
n
Reliable work ethic and good attendance
n
Ability to work efficiently within production deadlines
n
Experience in heavy vehicle, semi-trailer, truck, industrial, fabrication or manufacturing environments will be highly regarded.
