Job Description
Saigon Palace Cafe is a cosy full-service restaurant that serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The extensive menu offering includes a wide variety of meals including traditional beef soup, rice paper rolls, fresh salads, stir-fried dishes among others.
n We are currently looking for a Chef to join our team.
n Salary Range AUD 80,000 – AUD 85,000 annually.

The Role
n
Demonstrate understanding of food preparation and production in the kitchen department, whilst taking direction from the Head Chef to ensure smooth operation of all kitchen duties.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
Your tasks at the restaurant will consist of:
n
n
Ensures the consistency of all menu items regardless of time of day or period of service
n
Day to day effective involvement in food operations.
n
Liaising with Head Chef and kitchen team to ensure smooth delivery of food to guests.
n
Operation of kitchen equipment to achieve required results for ala carte and function service
n
Work with the head chef to advance and improve current food operations.
n
Has understanding of stock control and works together with the Head Chef to minimize wastage.
n
Compliance and understanding of food safety policy and procedures (HACCP)
n
Follows kitchen systems, policies, and procedures on shift.
n




Responding to the Head Chefs requests to perform other tasks from time to time which contribute to the overall success of the venue's -operations.

Maintaining service standards particularly during peak periods
n
Maintain a 'Can-do' attitude in the face of adversity
n

Skill & Experience
n
The Requirements:
n To be considered for the position you must meet the following requirements:
n
n
All applicants must have at least 1 years of experience in a commercial kitchen
n
Commercial cookery qualifications are preferred but not essential. All applicants are encourage to apply.
n
A positive, friendly and enthusiastic attitude
n
The ability to excel under pressure in a high-volume workplace with excellent problem-solving skills
n
Strong communication, negotiation and relationship skills
n
Have a strongly skill of making Vietnamese bread rolls, Rice Paper Rolls, Spring Rolls, Dimsim, Wonton to assist staff during rush hour.
n
Have a strongly knowledge background of Vietnamese Cuisine including ingredients such as herbs and seasoning in order to prevent allergic issues.
n
Demonstrated and verifiable prior experience
n
Excellent people and time management skills – ability to work with international staff
n
Willingness to work on weekends
n

Ability to balance high volume periods and peak service times
