MacKellar is looking for experienced Heavy Diesel Fitters / Plant Mechanics to join our established maintenance team at Middlemount Mine.
This is a permanent opportunity for tradespeople who want more than their next swing — with a stable project, contemporary equipment, a strong maintenance team and plenty of opportunity to grow with a leading Australian mining contractor.

The Opportunity
You'll be part of a dedicated maintenance crew responsible for keeping a large fleet of heavy mining equipment safe, reliable and ready for production.
Your role will cover a broad range of maintenance activities, including:
Planned servicing and preventative maintenance
Diagnosing mechanical faults and breakdowns
Component change‐outs, repairs and rebuilds
Major maintenance and corrective repairs
Equipment inspections and fault identification




Completing work orders and maintenance records
Working closely with operators, supervisors and fellow trades
Maintaining a safe, clean and organised work area
You'll have the opportunity to work across a well‐maintained fleet while developing your skills within a long‐term operation.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for a qualified tradesperson with strong heavy mobile equipment experience and a practical approach to maintenance.
You'll need:
Australian-recognised
Heavy Diesel Fitter or Plant Mechanic
trade qualification
Previous experience working on heavy earthmoving or mining equipment
Strong mechanical diagnostics and fault-finding capability
Current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or ability to obtain
Current Queensland Driver Licence
A strong commitment to safety and working as part of a team
