An exciting opportunity is available for a Board-Certified Veterinary Medical Oncologist or Board-Eligible Clinician to take on a leadership role as Head of Medical Oncology within a premier specialist, emergency and referral hospital in Melbourne, Australia.

This is a rare opportunity to lead and grow an established Oncology service within a modern, multi-site specialist network focused on delivering world-class veterinary care, clinical innovation and outstanding client experience.

The Team

You will be joining a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, including:

Specialist Surgeons (including surgical oncology expertise)
n
Emergency and Critical Care clinicians

Anaesthesia specialists

Internal Medicine specialists

Oncology nurses, residents and interns
n
Highly trained support and nursing teams

The Role
n
As Head of Medical Oncology, you will lead the continued development and expansion of the Medical Oncology service.
n
You will work closely with surgical oncology and other specialties to deliver integrated cancer care, while also shaping the clinical direction, standards and future growth of the department.
n
This role includes both clinical and leadership responsibilities, with a strong focus on service development, mentorship and multidisciplinary collaboration.
n
Key Responsibilities
n
n
Leading and developing the Medical Oncology service.
n
Managing a diverse and complex oncology caseload.
n
Delivering advanced chemotherapy and oncology treatment protocols.
n
Collaborating closely with surgical oncology and other specialties.
n
Enhancing integrated cancer care pathways, including
electrochemotherapy
use.
n
Providing specialist consultations and treatment planning.
n
Mentoring and supporting residents, interns and clinical staff.
n
Contributing to clinical governance, protocols and service strategy.
n
Supporting client and referring veterinarian relationships.
n
n
What We're Looking For
n
Essential
n
n
Board-certified Medical Oncologist (ACVIM, ECVIM, RCVS, ANZCVS or equivalent), or board-eligible clinician near completion of examinations.
n
Eligibility for veterinary registration in Victoria, Australia.
n
Strong clinical expertise in medical oncology.
n
Demonstrated leadership capability or interest in service leadership.
n
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
n
Commitment to collaborative, patient-centred care.
n

Desirable
n
n
Experience in a referral or specialist hospital environment.
n
Interest in teaching, mentoring or residency training programs.
n
Experience in service development or clinical leadership roles.
