n Inner City Metals is a leading metal recycling and scrap processing business, operating a large industrial yard in Laverton North. Our operations include a diverse fleet of trucks, forklifts, loaders, balers, shears, shredders, and other heavy machinery. We are committed to safety, reliability, and operational efficiency, and we are looking for a qualified Diesel & Heavy Plant Mechanicto join our growing team.

Key Responsibilities

n

Maintain and repair trucks, forklifts, loaders, balers, shredders, and other yard machinery

n

Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and minor electrical faults

n

Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance on all mobile plant and machinery

n

Record repairs, service details, and parts usage accurately

n

Work with Operations and Transport teams to minimise downtime

n

Assist with workshop projects, installations, and general yard support as required

n





Adhere to all WHS and safety procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols

n

Skills & Qualifications

n

Trade-qualified Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Mobile Plant Mechanic, or Fitter & Turner

n

Experience with trucks, forklifts, loaders, or heavy industrial machinery

n

Robust diagnostic and problem-solving skills (mechanical, hydraulic, electrical)

n

HR or HC Heavy Vehicle licence preferred; Forklift licence advantageous

n

Ability to work independently, safely, and proactively in a large industrial yard

n

Solid organisational skills and attention to safety

n
