Senior Financial Accountant / Finance Manager

About the business

Our client is a well-established, privately owned Australian financial services group operating across commercial property finance and funds management. With decades in the market, they arrange and lend against commercial real estate and manage the investment funds that back that lending. The group also holds interests in a small number of related businesses across other asset classes.

This is a newly created role, built around a CFO who's reshaping the finance function and wants someone who can genuinely own a broad remit rather than sit in a narrow lane.

The role

This 12-month contract is structured in two phases, giving you a explicit path from hands-on delivery into a genuine leadership remit.

First 3 months, Senior Accountant:
Close management accounts across a portfolio of entities
Manage audit, tax returns and BAS, all within NetSuite
Report directly to the CFO
Get across other asset classes outside the core lending book

This phase is full on. You'll be covering real ground from day one while you get across the business, so it suits someone who wants to be busy and helpful immediately, not eased in gently.

From month 4,



stepping up to Finance Manager:
Own consolidations, including running the FY27 year-end consolidation
Bring genuine, current technical knowledge of accounting standards (including recent changes such as AASB 18), not just theoretical familiarity
Operate with real autonomy in a lean team and a quick-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment

What you'll need
Solid corporate accounting fundamentals: consolidations and statutory reporting
Background in financial services, funds management or deal advisory (real estate debt or mortgage fund exposure is a bonus, not essential)
Comfortable operating in a lean team where you won't always have complete information or a fully mapped-out process
Available to start immediately
