The Position
n
The Employment practitioner manages a diverse portfolio of contentious and non-contentious workplace matters. The role requires supporting corporate clients, interpreting modern awards and enterprise agreements, and delivering commercial, practical advice in a supportive team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities
n
n
Provide practical and commercially focused advice on employment and workplace relations matters.
n
Draft, review and negotiate employment contracts, policies, procedures, and workplace documentation.
n
Advise clients on employment legislation, awards, enterprise agreements, and regulatory obligations.
n
Assist with workplace investigations, disciplinary matters, performance management processes, and termination of employment issues.
n
Support clients in managing discrimination, harassment, bullying, and workplace health and safety matters.
n
Prepare correspondence, legal memoranda, court documents, and submissions.
n
Assist with litigation and dispute resolution matters before courts, tribunals, and regulatory bodies.
n
Conduct legal research and remain current on legislative and case law developments.
n
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
n
Running independent files while working collaboratively with senior team members on complex litigation or advisory projects.
n
Participate in business development activities and contribute to team growth initiatives.
n
Adhoc tasks and duties as and when required.
n
n
Commercial Transactions
n
n
Conduct employment law due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, business sales, and corporate restructures.
n
Advise on employee transfer arrangements, consultation obligations, and workforce integration issues arising from transactions.
n
Review and draft transaction documents including:
n
Business sale agreements
n
Service agreements
n
Confidentiality agreements
n
Commercial contracts
n
Assist with contract negotiations and provide strategic commercial advice.
n
Identify and manage employment-related risks in commercial transactions.
n
Support corporate clients on governance, compliance, and broader commercial legal matters.
n
Adhoc tasks and duties as and when required.
n
n
Qualifications / Requirements
n
n
Admitted as a legal practitioner in Australia.
n
1-3 years PQE with experience in employment, workplace relations, industrial relations, or litigation.
n
Strong understanding of employment legislation and workplace regulations.
n
Excellent drafting, research, and analytical skills.
n
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
n
Ability to manage multiple matters and competing priorities.
n
Commercially minded with strong attention to detail.
n
Demonstrated commitment to client service and skilled excellence.
n
n
Advantageous:
n
n
Experience appearing before or assisting with matters in the Fair Work Commission or relevant courts and tribunals.
n
Experience conducting workplace investigations.
n
Exposure to workplace health and safety matters.
n
Business development or client relationship management experience.
