HD Mechanic - Field Service | Perth WA / FIFO

We are recruiting an experienced HD Mechanic / Field Service Mechanic for a well-established Western Australian business supporting the mining and resources sector.
n
This is a full-time opportunity based from Hazelmere, Perth, with FIFO site work maintaining and repairing a fleet of drill rigs, heavy trucks, light vehicles and associated equipment.
n
The role will suit a qualified tradesperson with broad mechanical knowledge who is confident working independently in field service environments and diagnosing faults across heavy mobile equipment.

Key responsibilities include:

Carry out preventative and scheduled maintenance across drill rigs, heavy trucks, light vehicles and mobile equipment
n
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
n
Attend field breakdowns and complete repairs safely and efficiently
n
Perform general servicing, component replacement and fault finding
n
Work with hydraulic systems and associated heavy equipment components
n
Support welding and fabrication repairs where required
n
Maintain accurate service and maintenance records
n
Follow site safety procedures, isolation requirements and company standards
n
Work independently across FIFO and field service environments
n
Communicate clearly with site teams regarding equipment condition,



repairs and outstanding maintenance

Recognised Mechanical Trade qualification
n
Minimum 3 years post-trade experience
n
Previous experience as an HD Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, Field Service Mechanic or similar
n
Strong experience diagnosing and maintaining heavy mobile equipment
n
General knowledge and practical experience with hydraulic systems
n
Previous exposure to drill rigs, HD trucks and light vehicles highly regarded
n
Compressor knowledge would be advantageous
n
Auto electrical fault-finding experience would be advantageous
n
Welding and fabrication experience would be advantageous
n
Ability to work independently in field service and remote environments
n
Strong commitment to safety and correct isolation procedures
n
Ability and willingness to work FIFO from Perth
n
HR licence preferred
n
Forklift licence preferred
n
