OSMAC Apprenticeships is seeking a motivated
first-year apprentice
to complete a
Certificate III in Security Equipment
with an established security company based in Cairns, servicing Cairns region.
This opportunity would particularly suit:
Year 12 students graduating in **** or recent graduates
Someone interested in electronics, computers, technology or networking, programming
A practical learner who enjoys working with tools and solving problems
About the trade
This is a technical trade involving electronic security and communication systems. Working alongside experienced security technicians, you will learn how to install, service, maintain and fault‐find systems such as:
CCTV and surveillance systems
Security alarms and sensors
Access‐control systems
Intercom and communication systems
Electronic locks and related equipment
Data cabling and connected security technology
Security equipment used by businesses and commercial facilities
You will work across different locations throughout the Cairns region and gain practical experience while completing nationally recognised training, servicing schools, hospital, airport,



aged care facility, government building and business.
Once qualified, Security and Communications Technicians can build careers in electronic security, communications, data, networking, system integration and specialist technology services with very competitive salary!
About you
We would like to hear from you if you:
Have Australian working rights
Ability to obtain White Card, police checks, D&A; test, Blue Card
Have a genuine interest in technology, electronics, security systems
Enjoy practical work and learning how equipment operates
Are reliable, punctual and willing to learn
Can listen carefully and follow instructions
Demonstrate valuable work ethic
Have good problem‐solving skills and attention to detail
Are comfortable using—or interested in learning to use—hand and power tools
Can communicate respectfully and work effectively as part of a team
Understand the importance of workplace safety
Are willing and able to work at heights when required
Hold a current driver's licence or are progressing towards obtaining one
Certificate II in Electrotechnology or previous technical experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
