About the Role n
Working under the direction of the City Farm Learning Facilitator, you will help deliver hands-on farm and horticulture programs, ensuring participants have a protected, enjoyable and educational experience.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Welcoming groups and providing an introduction to Sydney City Farm
n
Delivering site inductions, safety briefings and participant training
n
Leading walks and tours through Sydney Park
n
Preparing and setting up activities and materials
n
Facilitating practical horticulture and urban agriculture activities
n
Supervising participants during hands-on farm activities
n
Supporting activities including planting, weeding, watering and sheet mulching
n
Working within the propagation nursery
n
Assisting with produce harvesting
n
Educating participants about composting, seed saving, beneficial insects and sustainable gardening
n
Encouraging participation and creating an inclusive learning environment
n
Packing down and cleaning up following programs
n
Supporting program evaluation and continuous improvement
n
n




You will work both
autonomously and as part of a small, hands-on team
.
n
The role is primarily outdoors and requires the ability to work in varying weather conditions, stand for extended periods and undertake some manual handling.
About You n
We are looking for someone with practical horticultural knowledge who is confident engaging with and educating a diverse range of participants.
n
To be successful, you will have:
n
n
Knowledge and practical experience in
horticulture, urban agriculture, organic gardening and/or community gardens
n
Demonstrated experience in teaching, facilitating, educating or working with volunteers in an outdoor environment
n
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
n
An understanding of accessible and inclusive programming and diverse learning needs
n
The ability to identify health and safety risks and confidently conduct site inductions and safety briefings
n
A genuine interest in sustainable gardening, urban agriculture and community engagement
n
The ability to work independently and contribute positively to a small team
n
A good level of physical fitness and the ability to undertake outdoor and manual activities
n
Pre-Employment Checks n
The successful candidate will be required to provide:
