The Cook will be responsible for preparing and cooking food in accordance with the café's menu, recipes, food safety requirements and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
Preparing, seasoning and cooking food according to established recipes and menu requirements.
Preparing ingredients, including meat, seafood, vegetables, sauces and other food products.
Operating and regulating ovens, grills, cooktops, fryers and other kitchen equipment.
Ensuring food is prepared and presented consistently to the required quality and portion standards.
Preparing and plating meals, including adding sauces, garnishes and other accompaniments.
Monitoring the quality and freshness of ingredients and food products.
Storing food appropriately and maintaining correct temperature controls.
Following food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures.
Maintaining a clean, organised and hygienic kitchen and food preparation areas.
Assisting with stock control, including checking deliveries and monitoring ingredient requirements.
About you
Relevant qualifications in commercial cookery or an equivalent level of skills and experience.




At least 12 months of relevant work experience as a Cook or in a related occupation.
Demonstrated experience preparing and cooking a range of meals in a commercial kitchen.
Knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
Understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Good communication and organisational skills.
Solid attention to food quality, presentation and consistency.
