Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Lead Business Analyst to join a major technology transformation portfolio within a large critical infrastructure and utilities environment. This is a senior, hands-on analysis role responsible for defining complex business problems, challenging assumptions and translating business needs into clear, testable and traceable requirements.

Working as part of a core delivery team alongside a Senior Project Manager and Process Analyst, you will remain accountable for requirements from initial problem definition through solution design, UAT and go-live.

Deep hands-on Salesforce expertise is essential, but this is not a Salesforce-only role. You will work across Salesforce and broader enterprise platforms, requiring the ability to define platform-agnostic requirements for solutions including SharePoint, websites, CMS platforms, integrations and customer-facing digital services.

The environment combines complex enterprise technology with regulatory requirements and customer/community-facing services, making this an opportunity for a Lead BA who enjoys solving difficult problems rather than simply documenting requirements.

Responsibilities
n
n
Lead problem definition and requirements analysis across complex technology and business transformation initiatives.
n
Develop Solution Design Briefs covering problem statements, constraints, scope boundaries, solution options and trade-offs.
n
Translate business needs into detailed, testable functional requirements and Given/When/Then acceptance criteria.
n
Establish requirements prioritisation using MoSCoW and own requirements traceability throughout delivery.
n
Maintain Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs) from initial requirements through design, testing and implementation.
n
Provide hands-on functional analysis across Salesforce, including object models, flows, permission sets and Experience Cloud.
n
Define platform-agnostic requirements for non-Salesforce solutions including SharePoint, CMS, websites and enterprise applications.
n




Define integration and data requirements including field mapping, data quality rules and data lineage.
n
Personally develop evidence-based business cases and support post-implementation benefits realisation and tracking.
n
Challenge stakeholder assumptions and distinguish underlying business problems from proposed solutions or symptoms.
n
Assess competing solution options and provide clear recommendations, trade-offs and alternatives.
n
Review and govern AS-IS/TO-BE process analysis before translating approved processes into functional requirements.
n
Lead UAT governance, including planning, requirements traceability, acceptance and written go/no-go recommendations.
n
Validate proposed solutions against agreed requirements and challenge designs that do not meet the defined business need.
n
Identify regulatory and compliance requirements early and ensure they are incorporated into solution requirements.
n
Work closely with Project Managers, Process Analysts, Solution Architects, Salesforce specialists, UX Designers and technical delivery teams.
n
Facilitate complex stakeholder workshops involving business, technology, regulatory and customer/community stakeholders.
n
Assess change impacts across diverse user groups, including regional and community users with varying levels of digital literacy.
n
Provide light-touch mentoring and capability uplift to other Business Analysts without direct people-management responsibility.

Skills & Experience
n
n
8+ years' experience as a dedicated Business Analyst delivering complex enterprise technology programs.
n
Ideally 3+ years' experience within utilities, critical infrastructure,



government or another highly regulated environment.
n
Deep, hands-on Salesforce functional knowledge, with the ability to define what the platform can and cannot deliver rather than relying entirely on development teams.
n
Strong experience defining functional requirements across multiple enterprise platforms, not solely Salesforce.
n
Demonstrated experience personally authoring detailed business cases, ideally within environments requiring significant financial, regulatory or governance scrutiny.
n
Strong requirements elicitation, definition, prioritisation, acceptance criteria and traceability experience.
n
Demonstrated experience identifying root causes, challenging stakeholder assumptions and pushing back on requirements where appropriate.
n
Experience defining complex integration and data requirements, including mappings, data quality and lineage.
n
Strong experience governing UAT and taking accountability for testing outcomes and go/no-go recommendations.
n
Experience working within structured multidisciplinary delivery teams where project management, process analysis, architecture and business analysis have clearly defined responsibilities.
n
Strong stakeholder management skills, including experience navigating complex or conflicting stakeholder requirements.
n
Excellent written communication skills with the ability to produce concise, decision-ready requirements and solution documentation.
n
Ability to work autonomously while operating as an integrated member of a broader delivery team.

Salesforce Certified Business Analyst or other relevant Salesforce certifications.

Experience delivering technology solutions within energy, utilities or critical infrastructure.

Experience working with regulatory and compliance requirements within highly regulated environments.

Experience delivering public or community-facing digital platforms.
n
IIBA CBAP/CCBA, PMI-PBA, Agile/CSPO or similar professional certifications.
n
TOGAF awareness and experience working within formal architecture governance environments.
n
Experience defining AI-enabled solution requirements, particularly human-in-the-loop controls, auditability, sensitive workflows and AI governance.
