Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker (Aboriginal Focus)

Molonglo Support Services is a not-for-profit community-based organisation providing holistic domestic violence and homelessness support services, which has operated in
Queanbeyan/Palerang
and the region for over 46 years. Molonglo is proud to commence service delivery for a new short term crisis accommodation service within the
Queanbeyan/Palerang
region.
n
We are currently seeking applications from experienced, compassionate and motivated candidates to join a small supportive team working 32 hours per week as a Domestic and Family Violence Specialist Worker (Aboriginal Focus) at the Queanbeyan Core and Cluster. The Queanbeyan Core and Cluster provide support, accommodation, and post-crisis support to women and children escaping domestic violence.

Duties include -
n
n
Strength based case management, information, advocacy and referrals for women escaping domestic violence
n
Provide culturally protected, trauma-informed support to women, including Aboriginal women and children experiencing domestic and family violence within a crisis accommodation setting; as well as group facilitation
n
Accompanying clients to court, Centrelink, Homes NSW and other agencies when appropriate
n
Participate within a small team including team meetings, and proactively contribute to program development and undertake related tasks;
n
Ability to work with local Aboriginal communities and the broader community to promote awareness of domestic and family violence and Molonglo Support Services;
n
Undertake on-call duties (afterhours) as negotiated with the service
n
This is an onsite face to face role and does not include a work from home provision.

Current driver's licence, ability to provide a NSW Working with Children Check and current police check are essential.
n
SCHCADS Level 5 includespaid lunch break+ PBI Salary Packaging is available.

Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification. An Aboriginal person is defined under section 4 (1) of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act **** (NSW) as a person who:

(a) is a member of the Aboriginal race of Australia, and
