Physiotherapist Advanced Congenital Ortho
The position of Physiotherapist – Advanced (Congenital Orthopaedics) will: Deliver advanced level physiotherapy clinical and consultancy services within the specialist area of congenital orthopaedic conditions across the continuum of care in the CHQ HHS. And, provide clinical leadership in paediatric orthopaedic physiotherapy to coordinate the delivery of clinical services and to develop and maintain clinical excellence and high standards of care. The focus of this service will be coordination and leadership of the state-wide Physiotherapy Clubfoot Service and other congenital orthopaedic conditions.
About the Team
As part of the Allied Health Service, the QCH Physiotherapy Department is a tertiary paediatric service providing high level care, based on evidence-based practice and international standards of care. Advanced clinicians are available in all physiotherapy teams, whilst supervision and governance are underpinned by the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards. Subspecialty teams provide patient-centred management, tailored to the child and family's unique needs that can be delivered in outpatient, day patient, inpatient, outreach and telehealth settings.
The Physiotherapy Department provides undergraduate and post graduate education and clinical experience for physiotherapy programs in six Queensland universities. Workshops, seminars and courses are delivered nationally and internationally, in addition to attendances and presentations at conferences worldwide.
About the Role
In this role you will create systems to sustain high quality delivery for children, young people and families (Leader of Leaders)



in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:
Clinical Practice
Independently apply advanced level clinical expertise, specialised techniques and professional judgement to a complex caseload and provide clinical direction and advice to support evidence based clinical decision making and quality patient care by less experienced physiotherapists allocated to the congenital orthopaedic clinical area.
Provide professional leadership in the facilitation of research and the systematic pursuit and practical application of valid and reliable evidence to support quality clinical practice and the development and review of treatment protocols and related service procedures that support the continuum of care, high standards of care and optimal clinical outcomes for patients.
Work cooperatively and engage in effective communications with clinical service providers, service managers and clinical team leaders to facilitate early access to physiotherapy services and support effective service delivery, appropriate discharge, good clinical outcomes, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Provide specialist clinical advice regarding physiotherapy care for children/adolescents with congenital orthopaedic conditions and their sequelae to clinical service providers, service managers and health care consumers making key contributions to cross-discipline planning,



delivery and evaluation of clinical services.
Leadership / Service Improvement
Actively pursue relevant professional development and take a lead role in the development and delivery of relevant competency training and skill development programs in congenital orthopaedic physiotherapy care, targeted at less experienced physiotherapists, assistants, and students; and lead a systematic education program for physiotherapists and other health professionals across the state.
Work in partnership with the Director of Physiotherapy to plan, develop, operationalise, and coordinate physiotherapy services related to congenital orthopaedic conditions, including education, quality assurance and research strategies which enhance service delivery in this field of practice.
