Job Description
A Motor Mechanic at Goodyear Autocare & Tyres Croydon is responsible for diagnosing vehicle faults, carrying out repairs, and performing routine servicing. The role ensures vehicles are safe, reliable, and operating efficiently.

Key responsibilities

Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
n
Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and other vehicle components
n
Carry out routine servicing, including oil changes, filter replacements, inspections, and replacement of worn parts
n
Perform tyre fitting, balancing, wheel alignments, tyre rotations, and puncture repairs
n
Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards through thorough inspections and roadworthy checks
n
Supervise and mentor junior mechanics, providing technical guidance and training
n
Allocate tasks and manage workshop workflow to ensure efficiency and minimize vehicle downtime
n
Oversee quality control, ensuring all repairs and services meet company and industry standards
n
Maintain accurate service records, job documentation, and parts inventory usage
n
Liaise with clients to provide expert advice on repairs, servicing schedules, and preventative maintenance
n
About you
n




Relevant qualification in automotive mechanics (e.g., Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent)
n
At least two years of experience as a motor mechanic, preferably in a workshop or fleet servicing workplace
n
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex mechanical issues
n
Proficiency in using modern diagnostic tools and equipment
n
Solid knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical systems
n
Experience with tyre fitting, balancing, and general tyre services (preferred)
n
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
n
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
n
Good time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and minimize downtime
n
Valid driver's license (manual preferred)
