Alltruck Bodies is a successful Australian manufacturing company and a market leader in the design and manufacture of rigid truck bodies and Pig and Dog trailers.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced, motivated and energetic Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Department. This role will support the day-to-day engineering requirements of our growing business and work closely with Production, Sales and Purchasing.

Key responsibilities
n
n
Prepare detailed job sheets, production drawings, bills of materials (BOMs) and cutting lists for the manufacture of rigid truck bodies and Pig and Dog trailers.
n
Develop recent products, modify existing designs and resolve quality issues through the Engineering Change Notice (ECN) system.
n
Investigate engineering and manufacturing problems and implement practical solutions that reduce the likelihood of recurring issues.
n
Prepare engineering calculations and sales layout drawings in accordance with customer requirements.
n
Create accurate manual and computer-based 2D and 3D drawings that comply with AS **** drafting standards.
n
Maintain accurate control, processing and cataloguing of all new and revised engineering and drafting documents.
n
Liaise with Purchasing to ensure the materials required for manufacturing are procured on time.
n
Work with Production to establish or adjust procedures to meet manufacturing schedules and deadlines.
n
Liaise with Sales, customers, employees and suppliers to clarify specifications and resolve technical issues.

Review job sheets, drawings, BOMs and cutting lists to ensure they are complete, accurate, clear and compliant with specifications.
n
Provide practical engineering support to the manufacturing team when required.

About you
n
n
A bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
n
Strong knowledge of steel fabrication and manufacturing processes.
n
Good knowledge of the Australian Design Rules (ADRs).
n
Experience within the heavy transport industry would be an advantage.
n
Strong experience using engineering, drafting and office software, including AutoCAD, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
n
Experience producing 2D and 3D drawings.
n
Autodesk Inventor experience is preferred but not essential.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the business.
n
Exceptional organisational and time-management skills.
n
A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
n
A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work within production deadlines.
