This position is focused on structural design and design management within water and wastewater infrastructure projects. The role involves leading structural design deliverables from early scoping through to detailed design and construction support, guiding junior team members, reviewing technical outputs, and working closely with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to deliver practical and code-compliant solutions.
Key responsibilities
Take a lead in liaison with clients and stakeholders to develop design options and progress deliverables including running workshops in person/online
Lead the structural design components of water and wastewater infrastructure projects
Coordinate and review work prepared by junior staff and external consultants
Undertake structural inspections and assessments where required to support design or rehabilitation planning
Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and drawings
Contribute to the ongoing development of team capability and design processes
About you
Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering




At least 5 years' experience in an engineering consultancy or related setting, with a focus on structural design
Experience leading small engineering teams and mentoring junior engineers
Competent in preparing and reviewing design documentation, calculations, and technical reports
Good understanding of relevant Australian Standards (e.g., AS ****, AS ****) and WSAA codes
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and confident in engaging with clients and project teams
Holds (or is working towards) Chartered status with Engineers Australia
