About the role
n
CMAX Clinical Research is looking for passionate and experienced Research Physicians to join our world-class clinical research team on a permanent full-time or permanent part-time basis (minimum 3 days per week).
n

Working within CMAX's purpose-built clinical research facility, you'll play a key role in the safe and successful conduct of Phase I and early-phase clinical trials,



working alongside experienced Physicians, Principal Investigators, Nurses and clinical research professionals.
n
No two days are the same. You'll combine your clinical expertise with research, critical thinking and participant care, while gaining valuable exposure to innovative medicines and emerging healthcare treatments.
n
Key responsibilities
n
In this role, you will:
n
Conduct physical examinations and comprehensive medical history assessments as part of participant screening and study activities;
n
Review and authorise clinical pathology results, vital signs and ECGs, identifying and responding to clinically significant findings;
n
Provide high-quality medical care and clinical oversight, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of participants throughout their involvement in a study;
n
Assess, document, monitor and report adverse events and medical issues in accordance with study protocols and regulatory requirements;
n
Work closely with clinical and non-clinical teams to ensure study activities are conducted safely, efficiently and in accordance with Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC)-approved protocols ;
n
Collaborate with Clinical Research Nurses, Principal Investigators, external medical personnel and other stakeholders to support successful trial delivery;
n
Contribute your medical expertise to a collaborative, fast-paced environment where clinical excellence and participant safety come first.

Senior Research Physician opportunities
n
Candidates appointed at Senior Research Physician level may also:
n
Support Day 1 dosing and post-dose participant monitoring under the guidance of the Principal Investigator;
n
Provide clinical guidance and mentorship to Research Physicians and Nurse Practitioners;
n
Supervise and train new medical team members;
n
Lead medical process-improvement initiatives;
n
Develop and deliver training across the Research Physician and Nurse Practitioner teams;




n
Manage an allocated portfolio of medical or clinical development work;
n
Help provide medical coverage during planned and unplanned Principal Investigator leave, within the appropriate delegation and governance arrangements.

About you
n
We're looking for a clinician who is curious, collaborative and passionate about healthcare innovation, with the confidence to apply sound clinical judgement in a research environment.
n
You'll bring:
n
Current unconditional medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Medical Indemnity Insurance;
n
ALS1 certification, or a willingness to complete the required training;
n
Strong clinical assessment, communication and interpersonal skills;
n
A calm, practical and patient-focused approach, with the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced workplace;
n
An interest in clinical research, emerging treatments and innovation in healthcare;
n
The flexibility to work varied hours, including occasional after-hours work and weekends where required;
n
Previous clinical research or early-phase trial experience will be highly regarded.
