G K Freighters is seeking a reliable and skilled Truck Driver to join our team on a casual basis initially with the option for Full Time. Based in Townsville and contributing to the success of our transport and logistics operations. As a Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and timely delivery of freight, maintaining our vehicles to the highest standards, and upholding the reputation of G K Freighters across the region.
What you'll be doing
Operating heavy vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and road safety regulations
Planning and executing delivery routes to ensure goods are transported on schedule and in good condition
Performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, identifying and reporting maintenance issues promptly
Loading and unloading freight, ensuring cargo is secured correctly and safely
Maintaining accurate records of deliveries, kilometres travelled, fuel consumption and vehicle condition
Communicating effectively with dispatch, customers and other team members regarding delivery status and any issues encountered
Complying with all relevant transport regulations, including weight restrictions and hours of service requirements
Maintaining a professional demeanour and representing G K Freighters positively to customers and the public
What we're looking for
A valid Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) driver's licence appropriate for the vehicles operated
A current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one as part of employment requirements
Proven experience as a truck driver in the road transport industry,



demonstrating consistent safe driving practices
Strong knowledge of road safety regulations, vehicle maintenance basics and load securing procedures
Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently whilst meeting tight delivery schedules
Clear communication skills and a professional attitude when dealing with customers and colleagues
Physical fitness and the ability to perform manual tasks associated with loading and unloading
Reliability and a commitment to maintaining a clean driving record
Experience with GPS navigation systems and basic computer literacy to record delivery information
