ABOUT THE JOB
n
Kick-start your career with Lake Macquarie City Council as a Trainee Administration Officer in our Environmental Systems and Assets departments. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable hands‐on experience while making a real difference to the Lake Macquarie community. As a key member of the team, you'll be at the centre of the departments, supporting a diverse range of business areas and helping deliver exceptional customer service.

While working with an experienced and supportive team, you'll complete a Certificate IV in Business Administration through online study with the Australian College of Commerce and Management, building practical skills in administration, customer service, stakeholder engagement, records management, and business operations.
n
In this role, we will support you to:
n
Deliver outstanding customer service by responding to enquiries, requests and correspondence in a professional and timely manner.
n
Manage and process customer requests through Council's customer request management system.
n
Provide administrative support including processing invoices and requisitions, preparing correspondence and reports, maintaining systems, and coordinating documentation.
n
Assist with the distribution of incoming correspondence and ensure workflows are directed to the appropriate teams.
n
Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and record minutes.
n
Support the planning and delivery of workshops, training sessions, events and departmental activities.
n
Act as the department's Authority and TRIM Champion, supporting effective records and information management.
n
Work collaboratively across the Environmental Systems and Assets departments and contribute to achieving team and organisational objectives.
n
The position is located at councils' temporary office in Wallsend and may involve travel to multiple areas within Lake Macquarie.

Receive a wage whilst studying towards a qualification starting from starting from $****** to $****** per week plus 12 per cent superannuation.

Completed Year 12 (or equivalent) with satisfactory results in English and Mathematics.
n
A passion for providing outstanding customer service and creating positive experiences for others.
n
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build positive relationships with a wide range of people.

Sound computer literacy and a willingness to learn new digital systems, software and technologies.
n
Enjoy working as part of a supportive team and contributing to shared goals.
n
A willingness to complete a Certificate IV in Business Administration and commitment to completing all training and study requirements.
n
Please note: Candidates who have already completed a Certificate IV in Business, or a higher-level qualification, are not be eligible for this traineeship.
