Baseup Sheds is looking for an experienced concreter to step into a hands-on supervisory role across our concrete preparation and earthworks operations.
n
This role would suit someone who knows concreting, understands earthworks and levels, can lead a crew, and is confident taking responsibility for getting jobs properly prepared and ready for concrete.
n
The Role
n
You will work a few days ahead of the concrete pouring crew, taking control of upcoming jobs once they have been scheduled.
n
Your job is to make sure the earthworks and slab preparation happen properly, the crew knows what they are doing, and each slab is ready when the concrete arrives.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Directing our earthmoving operator on site
n
Setting out and marking out shed slabs
n
Checking excavation depths, levels and site preparation
n
Supervising boxing, formwork and reinforcement
n
Checking slab dimensions, levels, penetrations and preparation against plans
n
Making sure materials are ready for upcoming jobs
n
Looking 2-3 days ahead and identifying anything that could hold a job up
n
Training and developing less-experienced concreters
n
Solving problems on site and keeping jobs moving
n
Assisting with concrete pours and finishing when required, particularly on larger pours
n
n
You will not be expected to spend your days operating excavators or skid steers. We already have a dedicated earthmoving operator.
n
You will also not be responsible for creating the overall construction schedule. Jobs will already be scheduled ahead of you.
n
Your responsibility is to take the upcoming work and make sure it is completed properly and ready for the pour.
n
What We're Looking For
n
Ideally you will have:
n
n
Experience with boxing, reinforcement, pouring and finishing
n
Good understanding of excavation, levels and site preparation
n
Ability to read plans and accurately set out slabs
n




Experience leading concreters or construction workers
n
Confidence giving direction and holding a crew accountable
n
Strong attention to detail and quality control
n
Good communication and organisation
n
Ability to think ahead and solve problems
n
Experience with shed slabs, large residential slabs, commercial slabs or similar work would be highly regarded.
n

This is not a position for someone who wants to stand back and simply supervise.
n
You will be responsible for leading the preparation side of the operation, but you must still be capable and willing to jump on the tools when required.
n
On concrete pour days, our existing concrete supervisor will lead the pouring and finishing crew. You may assist on larger pours or when the team needs another experienced concreter.
