We're looking for an experienced Machine Operator with previous Team Leader experience to join a well-established horticultural manufacturing operation in Skye.
n
This is a hands-on manufacturing role involving automated machinery, machine changeovers, troubleshooting, production targets and continuous improvement.
n
You'll primarily operate machinery while also using your leadership experience to support the team, improve processes and help keep production running efficiently.

About the Role
n
You'll be responsible for:
n
n
Operating production machinery safely and efficiently
n
Machine set-ups and changeovers
n
Troubleshooting machinery and production issues
n
Identifying root causes and helping minimise downtime
n
Monitoring production output and machine performance
n
Supporting process and workflow improvements
n
Training, mentoring and supporting machine operators
n
Working closely with production and maintenance teams
n
Maintaining high standards of safety and quality
n
n
The role is hands-on and also involves detailed manual work with small plant cuttings and seeds using tweezers, so good manual dexterity and attention to detail are important.
n
About You
n
Previous Team Leader experience is essential.
n
You'll have:

Robust machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment
n




Previous Team Leader experience
n
Experience in a fast-paced production workplace
n
Machine set-up and changeover experience
n
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
n
Experience diagnosing issues and identifying root causes
n
Experience training or mentoring team members
n
The ability to work with different personalities and drive positive change
n
A proactive approach to continuous improvement
n
Strong communication skills
n
Good attention to detail and manual dexterity
n

Highly Regarded

Automated machinery experience
n
Preventative maintenance experience
n
Lean Manufacturing experience
n
Mechanical or Engineering qualification
n
Experience in horticulture, agriculture, food production or high-volume manufacturing

Shift Flexibility
n
Initially, you'll work either:

6:00am - 2:00pm
n
10:00am - 6:00pm
n
n
Roster flexibility is essential, as production requirements can change throughout the week.

Previous Machine Operator experience

Previous Team Leader experience

Manufacturing or production experience
n
Machine set-up/changeover experience

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
