role offering a
4-day compressed working week
, providing genuine work-life balance while working on specialised underground mining equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, repair and overhaul gearboxes and associated components
Disassemble, rebuild and test gearbox assemblies
Install and commission gearbox systems, ensuring correct connections and functionality
Read and interpret manufacturing drawings and parts manuals
Carry out preventative maintenance, routine checks, cleaning and lubrication
Use measuring tools such as micrometres and verniers to complete accurate fitting work
Complete basic machining and manufacture of small components where required
Maintain a safe, organised and clean workshop in line with WHS, quality and environmental standards
Assist with fault finding, identifying maintenance needs and supporting continuous improvement opportunities
Support apprentices by demonstrating correct work procedures and safe work practices
About You
Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter,



Fitter and Turner, or similar
Experience working with gearboxes, heavy industrial equipment, mobile plant or mining equipment
Ability to drawings and parts manuals
Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work
Safety-focused, reliable and able to work effectively in a workshop team environment
Basic computer skills and a willingness to follow internal systems, processes and procedures
Forklift or overhead crane experience would be advantageous
