Your role
Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Operations, Australia, in the position of
Specialist, Local & Indigenous Procurement,
you will be responsible for developing, implementing and supporting local procurement strategies that maximise economic participation opportunities for local and Indigenous suppliers while ensuring alignment with Newmont's business objectives, governance requirements and sustainable procurement principles.
You will act as a key liaison between Supply Chain, Site Operations, Social Responsibility, Legal, Finance, and external suppliers to identify opportunities, remove barriers to participation and drive measurable value through local procurement initiatives and support the development of Newmont Australia's local procurement framework, reporting mechanisms and supplier development programs.
Key responsibilities will also be to
Develop and implement local procurement strategies that increase participation of local, Indigenous and diverse suppliers while aligning with business objectives
Partner with site, regional and functional stakeholders to identify, prioritise and deliver local procurement opportunities across operational and project spend categories
Establish and maintain local procurement plans, targets and performance measures,



including supporting the development and delivery of initiatives that contribute to site Local Procurement and Employment Plans
Support strategic relationships with local businesses, Indigenous enterprises, community organisations and supplier networks
Identify and develop supplier capability initiatives that improve local suppliers' ability to participate in procurement opportunities and meet business requirements
Support sourcing, contracting and supplier onboarding activities to ensure local procurement objectives are considered throughout the procurement lifecycle
Provide subject matter expertise and advice to procurement teams, contract owners and business stakeholders on local procurement opportunities, risks and best practices
Develop, monitor and report local procurement performance metrics, including local spend, Indigenous participation and supplier diversity outcomes
Ensure compliance with governance requirements and reporting obligations, maintaining accurate records and supporting audits and assurance activities
Drive continuous improvement of local procurement processes, frameworks and stakeholder engagement approaches to maximise business and community outcomes
Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, Indigenous enterprises, community organisations,



supplier networks and relevant industry bodies to support local procurement outcomes.
Yours skills and experience
Degree qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related discipline
Extensive supply chain, sourcing and procurement experience in global mining operations or similar industries
Knowledge of sustainable and ethical sourcing principles
Knowledge of contract performance and supplier management practices
Knowledge of Indigenous procurement policies and practices
Experience in Indigenous engagement and consultation
Leadership experience in procurement and sourcing management
Strong commercial acumen and market analysis capability
Understanding of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks
Experience supporting community development and social impact initiatives
Experience developing local and Indigenous suppliers
Skills in contract management including understanding of commercial terms and contractual obligations
Skills in contract drafting, negotiation and compliance management
Proficient MS Office skills and SAP or similar
Full and unrestricted eligibility to work in Australia.
Your work environment
This fulltime equivalent position will suit applicants currently living in Perth or Brisbane or in a regional centre servicing one of Newmont's mine operations in Australia including Boddington in WA, Orange in NSW or Darwin and Alice Springs in the NT.
A requirement of the position will be to work out of a Newmont office hub or mine operation in Australia on a flexible work from home/office hybrid work arrangement.
