Spectrum Consultants is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the delivery team on a greenfield Tailings Storage Facility (TSF) construction project in North West Queensland. This is a hands‐on, site-based role supporting the safe, compliant, and efficient construction of tailings infrastructure through to operational handover. The successful candidate will work closely with the Project Manager - Tailings, the construction contractor, and the Engineer of Record to ensure the TSF is built in accordance with design intent, regulatory requirements, and industry best practice.

Key responsibilities
n
Provide day-to-day engineering oversight of TSF construction activities, including embankment/wall construction, liner installation, and associated earthworks
n
Monitor and support tailings deposition planning and execution, ensuring alignment with the operating and management plan and design intent
n
Oversee the installation, commissioning, and ongoing performance of tailings pipeline and pumping infrastructure, including pipeline routing, pump station works, and slurry delivery systems
n
Liaise with the Engineer of Record and design team on construction verification, non‐conformances, and design change management
n
Support project controls activities including scheduling, progress reporting, cost tracking, and change management
n
Review and manage contractor deliverables, RFIs, ITPs, and construction quality records
n
Participate in site inspections, surveillance monitoring, and instrumentation review relevant to TSF performance
n
Contribute to constructability reviews,



risk assessments, and lessons‐learnt processes
n
Champion a solid safety culture and ensure works are executed in compliance with site HSE requirements and relevant regulatory frameworks
n
Support handover documentation and the transition from construction to operations
n
About you
n
Degree qualification in Civil, Mining, or Mechanical Engineering
n
Strong working knowledge of tailings depositional practices and hands‐on experience in tailings operations
n
Sound understanding of piping and pumping systems relevant to tailings/slurry transport
n
Demonstrated experience working on TSF or dam construction projects, ideally in a project engineering capacity
n
Project management experience highly regarded, including exposure to scheduling, cost control, and contractor management
n
Strong understanding of construction quality processes (ITPs, NCRs, survey/as‐built verification)
n
Ability to interpret and apply engineering drawings, specifications, and design documentation
n
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, construction, and operations teams
n
Willingness and ability to work FIFO on a 2 weeks on / 1 week off roster
n
Current driver's licence; relevant site safety inductions (or ability to obtain)
n
12-month fixed term contract with a genuine opportunity to shape a greenfield TSF construction program
n
Work alongside an experienced tailings and project delivery team on a technically significant piece of infrastructure
n
