Fitin is a growing Sydney-based joinery manufacturing company delivering residential and commercial joinery projects.
n
As our workload continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Joinery Draftsperson / Project Coordinator who can take ownership of projects from initial documentation and drafting through client approval, material procurement and release to production.
n
This is not an entry-level drafting position.
n
We are looking for someone who understands how joinery is actually manufactured and who can manage the technical and coordination side of a project - not simply produce drawings.
n
The Role
n
You will receive a project including architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, site information and other relevant documentation and coordinate it through the pre-production process.
n
Your primary responsibility will be producing accurate joinery designs and shop drawings using Mozaik Cabinet Software, while also coordinating revisions, materials, purchasing, documentation and project information required by our factory.
n
You will work closely with management, clients/builders, suppliers and our production team to make sure each project is properly documented, approved, ordered and ready for manufacture.

Key Responsibilities
n
Mozaik Drafting & Design
n
n
Prepare detailed joinery and cabinetry shop drawings using Mozaik Cabinet Software
n
Interpret architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, site measurements and client requirements
n
Develop practical and manufacturable cabinetry solutions from the design documentation
n
Prepare plans, elevations, sections, dimensions and relevant construction details
n
Ensure cabinetry dimensions, materials, finishes and hardware are correctly documented
n
Review designs for practicality, manufacturing efficiency and material usage
n
Prepare production-ready information including cut lists, material lists and CNC/manufacturing data where required
n
Check your own drawings carefully before they are issued
n
n
Shop Drawing & Approval Coordination
n
n
Prepare and issue shop drawings for client/builder review
n
Maintain accurate drawing registers and revision control
n
Review client, architect and builder comments
n
Make required amendments accurately and promptly
n
Reissue revised drawings for approval
n
Track outstanding approvals and information
n
Ensure the latest approved drawings are clearly identified before anything is released to production
n
Identify discrepancies or missing information before they become factory or installation problems
n
n
Material Take-Off & Allocation
n
n
Once a project is approved:
n




Generate and verify material requirements from Mozaik and project documentation
n
Prepare board, hardware and component requirements
n
Calculate quantities required for production
n
Check available stock before purchasing additional material
n
Allocate existing stock to projects where appropriate
n
Consider material optimisation and wastage when calculating requirements
n
Confirm specified colours, finishes, thicknesses and hardware before ordering
n
n
Purchasing & Supplier Coordination
n
n
Prepare and place purchase orders for project materials and hardware
n
Liaise with board, hardware and other relevant suppliers
n
Obtain pricing where required
n
Confirm availability and lead times
n
Coordinate deliveries with the production programme
n
Follow up outstanding orders
n
Confirm ordered materials have been received
n
Check deliveries against purchase orders and project requirements
n
Escalate shortages, incorrect materials or delivery issues before they affect production
n
n
Project Coordination
n
n
Maintain visibility of each allocated project from drafting through production release
n
Coordinate project information between management, client/builder, suppliers and factory
n
Track key dates including drawing submission, approval, material ordering and production readiness
n
Identify potential delays or technical problems early
n
Keep project documentation organised and current
n
Assist with variations and changes throughout the project
n
Provide management with explicit updates on project status and outstanding actions
n
n
Project Cost Control
n
n
Assist with maintaining project cost information
n
Record major material and hardware purchases against projects
n
Compare estimated material requirements with actual purchasing where required
n
Identify significant material or scope variations
n
Assist management with basic project cost tracking
n
Maintain organised supplier quotations, purchase orders and project records
n
n
Production Support
n
n
Release accurate and approved information to production
n
Communicate technical requirements clearly with the factory
n
Respond to production queries and resolve drawing or material issues
n
Make controlled drawing changes where necessary
n
Help ensure the factory is always working from the latest approved information
n
Support continuous improvement of drafting, purchasing and production workflows
n
n




Essential Experience
n
Mozaik experience is mandatory for this position.
n
The successful candidate should have:
n
n
Minimum 1-2 years of practical, hands-on experience using Mozaik Cabinet Software
n
Previous joinery/cabinetry drafting experience
n
Strong understanding of cabinet construction and manufacturing
n
Experience preparing shop drawings suitable for client approval and production
n
Ability to read architectural drawings, plans and specifications
n
Understanding of common cabinetry materials, board products, hardware and finishes
n
Strong attention to detail
n
Good organisational and time-management skills
n
Ability to manage several projects and priorities at the same time
n
Ability to work independently and take ownership of allocated projects
n
Good written and verbal communication skills
n
n
Highly Regarded but Not Mandatory
n
Experience with any of the following will be an advantage:

AutoCAD
n
CNC production and nesting
n
Cabinet manufacturing machinery and workflows

Commercial joinery

Material procurement and purchasing

Australian joinery and construction standards

Microsoft Excel and project-management systems

AutoCAD experience is an advantage, but it is not mandatory. Solid Mozaik capability is considerably more important for this role.
