Pathology Queensland is seeking an experienced Senior Research Scientist (Microbiology) to provide strategic research advice and lead innovative infectious disease research and development across the organisation. Reporting to the Statewide Director, Microbiology, you will drive research initiatives that translate scientific innovation into practical outcomes, strengthening and enhancing Pathology Queensland’s microbiology services and supporting the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services across Queensland.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

- Demonstrated expert level of knowledge, expertise and skills to provide authoritative counsel and strategic advice in a complex contemporary microbiological laboroatory, including at a state-wide/national capacity.
- Demonstrated expert level of knowledge, expertise and skills on the application of testing technologies and strategies in the management of infectious diseases..
- Comprehensive knowledge of the requirements for validation of in-vitro diagnostic assays, including post implementation maintenance and trouble-shooting.
- Proven ability to undertake significant research and development initiatives, as evidenced by clinical/public health impact (state/national/international impact), grant funding and other academic outputs including publications, and scientific meeting presentations.
- Proven track record for collaboration and teamwork,



including an ability to develop collaborative working relationships/partnerships with key stakeholders, universities and other research organisations.
