About Us

NorthLight is a low evangelical church in Sydney's north, with four congregations meeting on two sites: West Pymble and West Lindfield. Our vision is to see Lives Transformed by the Grace of Jesus Christ.

The Role

We are looking for a suitably qualified minister or lay person to join our ministry team with oversight of the Children's ministry.

We are looking for a person willing take on and grow into the role and who will lead the leaders of a range of children's ministry including: Kids church, SRE, kids club (Smash) and our mid-year kids camp (Sandwich). This role is full time, but we are open to discussing job sharing, flexible hours and working arrangements depending on the candidate.

A stipend will be in accordance with the diocesan remuneration guidelines, based on experience and qualifications. This role will work with the congregational pastors and report to the rector.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership of Kids Church West Pymble and West Lindfield especially recruiting, leading, training and discipling the kids church team leaders; the giving of kids talk's within services (Together Time) and working with the congregational minister to disciple young families.

Leadership of our mid-week children’s ministries including Scripture and Friday kids club (Smash) and their leaders.

Leadership, planning, resourcing of the mid-year kids camp (Sandwich).





Other ministry opportunities will depend upon time and capacity and could include children's ministry on mission trips to Lightning Ridge and/or Cambodia, chaplaincy to a soon to be opened Christian day care and involvement in our playgroup (Minis).

Conviction, Qualifications, and Experience

You will be of mature Christian character and conviction, humble, prayerful, teachable and able to work in a team workplace as a leader and as someone who is under leadership. Formal theological training is preferred, but not essential. You will need to demonstrate previous experience leading children's ministry whether as a church member or in a previous ministry position. You will be able to fit in a low church, bible based, reformed tradition.

Skills and Capabilities

You will be able to teach the Bible faithfully, clearly, and practically to children. You will have the ability to care pastorally for oyur leaders and children. You will be able to delegate and grow leaders. You will have excellent interpersonal, communication, organisational, leadership skills and well as be able to learn, grow and adapt. You will need to be able to work independently and as a team member, with a flexible schedule (evenings/weekends). You will need to pass a Working With Children Check.
