About us:

The Allied Health Service Cassowary Hub is part of the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. It encompasses three rural hospitals; Innisfail, Tully and Babinda and provides high quality Allied Health Services including Child Protection Liaison, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Dietetics and Speech Pathology.

About your opportunity:

Join a passionate team of allied health professionals and provide generalist speech pathology services to inpatients and outpatients as required. This position offers the opportunity to develop skills in speech pathology assessment and treatment across the lifespan from paediatrics to adults. You will gain excellent generalist skills in this rural context, working within a dynamic Allied Health Services team through participation in an Approved Rural Generalist Education Program.

This program involves formal and work-based training in Speech Pathology rural generalist practice and applying learnings to enhance clinical and service outcomes.



You will also have the opportunity to assist in the ongoing development of the speech pathology service within the Cassowary Hub and participate in quality improvement and research activities as directed by the Team Leader Allied Health and the Director of Speech Pathology.

About your role:

- Deliver rural generalist adult and paediatric speech pathology clinical services across multiple facilities including Innisfail, Tully and Babinda Hospitals, working flexibly across all caseloads as required.
- Work cooperatively and effectively in a qualified manner with team members, external agencies, clients and families/carers to achieve a client centred approach.
- Assist the Senior Speech Pathologist with on-going wait list management and strategic long-term management of the Speech Pathology outpatient services.
