Home Support Officer
Mental Health Residential Facility | Haberfield
Uniting Annesley is looking for a vibrant, organised and engaging Home Support Officer to join our team at our Mental Health residential facility in Haberfield.
Are you an experienced administrator who understands the unique environment of a mental health residential home?
Do you have strong roster management experience and enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds?
We are looking for someone who is warm, approachable and highly organised, with the confidence to work in a busy residential mental health environment. This is a hands-on administration role where your ability to coordinate rosters, communicate effectively and support the day-to-day operation of the home will make a genuine difference to our residents, staff and families.
About the opportunity
As the Administration & Roster Coordinator, you will play an important role in supporting the smooth and effective operation of our mental health home.
Working closely with the management and care teams, you will provide high-quality administrative support while coordinating staff rosters and helping ensure the home is appropriately staffed to meet the needs of our residents.
You will be a key point of contact for staff, residents, families, visitors and other stakeholders, contributing to a welcoming, respectful and inclusive workplace.
Importantly, applicants must have:
- Demonstrated experience in staff roster management, including preparing, coordinating and maintaining rosters
- Experience working with changing staffing requirements, leave, absences and shift coverage
- An understanding of the needs and complexities of supporting people living with mental health conditions
- The ability to work calmly, professionally and respectfully in a sometimes fast-paced environment
Key responsibilities
- Manage and maintain staff rosters to support the safe and effective operation of the home.
- Coordinate roster changes, staff leave, unplanned absences and shift replacements.
- Monitor staffing requirements and work collaboratively with managers and staff to resolve roster issues.
- Ensure roster information is accurate, current and communicated effectively to relevant staff.
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the management and residential team.
- Deliver welcoming and professional front-of-house service to residents,
families, staff, visitors and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation and client information in accordance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.
- Support enquiries, appointments, bookings, purchasing, correspondence and general office administration.
- Assist with staff communication and the coordination of meetings and other activities within the home.
- Build positive relationships with residents, staff, families and community stakeholders.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and with varied needs.
- Support the management team with reporting, documentation and compliance requirements.
- Promote the rights, dignity, privacy and choice of residents.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and the delivery of a high-quality, person-centred service.
- Ensure administrative practices are consistent with relevant policies, procedures, legislation and quality standards.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Certificate III or IV in Business Administration, Health Administration, Community Services or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience in roster management is essential.
- Previous experience working in a mental health residential home/facility is essential.
- Previous experience in aged care, mental health, disability, community services or another residential care environment is highly regarded.

We are looking for someone who has:
- Proven experience managing staff rosters in a residential care environment
- Strong organisational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a busy environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The confidence to communicate with staff, residents, families and external stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to respond quickly to staffing and operational issues.
- Experience managing confidential and sensitive information.
- Experience using client management, rostering or workforce management systems.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email and electronic record systems.
- The ability to work independently while also being a collaborative member of the team.
- A calm, respectful and person-centred approach when working with residents experiencing mental health challenges.
