The role:

The Principal Project Officer plays a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of the digital scope associated with the Cairns Hospital Expansion Project (CHEP) and future Cairns Hospital Master Plan initiatives.

Working within the Digital Capital Program, you will provide specialist project management support, advice and leadership across a range of project activities and delivery streams. You will lead key project management and support functions including:

- Reporting and project controls
- Project scheduling and planning
- Financial management and forecasting
- Governance and assurance activities
- Development of project artefacts, reports and documentation
- Management and coordination of project work packages
- Risk, issue and dependency management
- Supervision and support of AO5 Project Support staff

You will work closely with project teams, Digital Leads, Health Infrastructure Queensland and key stakeholders to support the delivery of approved digital infrastructure outcomes within agreed scope, schedule and budget.

Are you right for this role?

Reporting to the Digital Lead, the Principal Project Officer will provide specialist project management expertise to support the planning, governance and delivery of complex digital infrastructure projects within the Cairns program.

You will have demonstrated experience in large-scale, complex project environments, with strong capabilities in project reporting, governance, scheduling, financial management and delivery coordination.

You will possess:





- Proven experience leading project management support functions for complex programs or projects.
- Strong skills in governance, reporting, scheduling, planning and financial management.
- Experience developing project artefacts, executive reporting and governance documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple work packages and competing priorities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and relationship management skills.
- Experience leading, mentoring and supervising project support resources.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide advice and guidance to senior stakeholders.

Experience within ICT, digital health, infrastructure or major capital delivery programs will be highly regarded.

While this role is based in Fortitude Valley, there is a requirement to undertake travel to support project deliverables.

Centralised procurement and asset management capabilities play a critical role in achieving efficient, consistent and value-for-money delivery outcomes across the portfolio.
