Re-Generate is a specialist engineering business delivering energy and water projects across New Zealand and Australia. Our work spans consulting, design, supply, specialist services and contracting across hydro generation, renewables, gas, heavy industry, and municipal infrastructure.

Our assessment work is rarely repetitive. It can involve hydro-generation equipment, large rotating machinery, gates, penstocks, pressure equipment, and complex industrial plant — often ageing, always high-consequence. You could be building non-linear FEA models one week, running a Fitness-for-Service assessment on a flawed component the next, and leading a failure investigation after that.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with FEA and Asset integrity experience to join our growing Australian team. This role will particularly suit someone motivated by technically demanding analysis, who wants their work to directly shape upgrade, repair, and risk decisions rather than sit in a report.

The role

» Your work will include:

– Developing, running, and validating complex FEA models to assess stress, strain, and remaining life.

– Conducting Fitness-for-Service assessments to API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, BS 7910 and relevant AS/NZS standards.

– Performing seismic stability, hydrodynamic pressure, and fluid-structure interaction analysis.

– Leading forensic investigations into structural and mechanical failures.





– Developing remediation strategies that balance safety with operational continuity.

– Collaborating with clients, suppliers, manufacturers, and other consultancies.

– Creating reports that turn dense technical content into explicit, concise messages a client can act on.

About you

» You will bring:

– A bachelor’s degree in mechanical or Materials Engineering (Master's or PhD in Solid/Fracture Mechanics highly regarded).

– At least 6 years of dedicated structural integrity, advanced stress analysis, and fracture mechanics experience.

– A proven record in FFS assessments and non-linear FEA on rotating and stationary assets.

– Expert working knowledge of API 579-1/ASME FFS-1, BS 7910 and AS/NZS 1170.

– The ability to interpret NDE/NDT results and integrate them into integrity models.

– Strong report writing skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently.

– CPEng with Engineers Australia (or working towards it); RPEQ highly advantageous.

Hydro experience would be valuable, but it is not essential. We welcome transferable experience from power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, heavy industrial or other high-consequence engineering environments.

The role will initially be remote but requires travel to client sites on a regular basis and could be up to 2-3 weeks at a time, depending on the job.
