About The Role

An exciting prospect exists for a Senior Preclinical Scientist to join our Early Stage and RNA Programs team.

This role is responsible for leading key scientific activities that support early vaccine development, including advanced assay development, optimisation, qualification, technology transfer, vaccine characterisation and routine testing. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will provide technical leadership, mentor scientists, and contribute to the successful delivery of innovative vaccine and RNA development programs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Lead the development, optimisation, validation and transfer of analytical and bioanalytical methods.
- Design, execute and oversee complex laboratory studies supporting vaccine and RNA development programs.
- Perform characterisation and testing of vaccine and biologic products using a range of analytical techniques.




- Develop quality control release specifications and support product development activities.
- Analyse, interpret and communicate scientific data to support project decision-making.
- Review scientific documentation and ensure activities comply with quality requirements and company standards

Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Biochemistry, Immunology, Microbiology, or a related scientific discipline (Master/PhD in related discipline is highly desirable)

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

- Experience developing analytical methods for vaccines, biologics or related products.
- Strong knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology and vaccine characterisation techniques.
- Hands-on experience with techniques such as ELISA, HPLC, Flow Cytometry, Western Blot and cell-based assays.
- Experience with assay qualification, validation, troubleshooting and technology transfer.
- Experience working within GLP and/or GMP environments.
- Strong communication, organisational and scientific problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes in a collaborative environment.

Selection criteria

- Demonstrated experience in vaccine, biologics or nucleic acid-based product development.
- Experience with assay and method development, validation and implementation.
- Experience analysing complex scientific data and providing technical recommendations.
- Experience leading projects and mentoring scientists or technical team members.
- Competency working with rodent models.
- Ability to work collaboratively and align with Vaxxas' values and behaviours.
