The NSW Biodiversity Conservation Trust (BCT), as part of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW), has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Regional Conservation Officer to join our Central West/Western Team.

About the role

In this role you will work as part of a regional team to deliver biodiversity conservation initiatives, providing expert guidance to landholders and stakeholders. You will coordinate and deliver projects, build strong partnerships, and contribute to meaningful biodiversity outcomes across NSW.

The position focuses on supporting the BCT's priorities which includes both private land conservation and managing agreements to offset development impacts. This role combines project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and technical advisory work, giving you the opportunity to make a tangible impact on conservation and land management practices.

Key Responsibilities.

- Partner with landholders and stakeholders to establish and manage conservation agreements.
- Deliver and coordinate projects and programs within scope, timeframes, and budget.
- Provide technical and ecological advice to support biodiversity outcomes.
- Conduct site assessments, including fieldwork and spatial/GIS mapping.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landholders, stakeholders and partners.
- Support compliance, monitoring, and agreement management activities.
- Contribute to education, communication, and stakeholder engagement initiatives.




- Lead Western programs/projects.

About You

We are seeking a motivated and experienced professional who is passionate about environmental conservation and delivering outcomes in partnership with landholders.

You will bring:

- Demonstrated experience in environmental, biodiversity conservation or natural resource management.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to deliver work on time and manage competing priorities.
- Proven ability to engage, influence, and build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including landholders and community groups.
- Experience providing technical advice or support, ideally in ecological or land management contexts.
- The ability to work both independently in the field and collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary geographically dispersed team.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex information clearly and prepare high-quality written materials.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving and organisational skills with a demonstratable ability to follow organisational processes and procedures.
- Experience working with GIS and undertaking basic GIS processing.
- Basic botanical skills with knowledge of vegetation identification and survey methodology, preferably within the Western region.

Essential Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or experience in natural resource management or biodiversity.
- A current driver's licence and willingness to travel.





The role involves field work, including conducting ecological assessments, and may require travel and work in remote areas.
