Your opportunity to make an impact

ALCAM and ARRM are important national rail risk systems. ARISO wants to build on that foundation and evolve them into increasingly integrated, data-driven tools that provide stronger insight for safety decisions, standards and reform. Reporting to the Head of Quality and Practice, as Risk Systems Manager you will lead that evolution. You will combine risk modelling, analytics, data stewardship and stakeholder leadership to strengthen model integrity, improve usability and turn evidence into practical insight. Your work will help ARISO and industry identify systemic issues earlier,



make better-informed decisions and focus effort where it can have the greatest safety benefit.

What you will shape and deliver

Redesign risk-system architecture to enable predictive, decision-ready analytics.

Sustain robust validation, change control and model governance.

Produce rigorous statistical, risk and trend analyses to surface systemic issues.

Strengthen ALCAM/ARRM user guidance, training and correct interpretation.

Lead technical forums to resolve methodological issues through transparent evidence.

Direct approved system changes and supplier work to protect functionality and security.

Track and report system health, data quality and support demand with clear insights.

What you'll bring

You are an analytical, curious risk professional who enjoys making complex evidence useful. You bring practical experience in safety risk modelling or probabilistic risk assessment, confidence with data and systems, and the judgement to distinguish signal from noise. You can challenge assumptions without losing people, explain quantitative evidence clearly and bring technical stakeholders together around proportionate decisions. Direct ALCAM or ARRM experience is valuable,



but strong transferable capability from other high-hazard or safety-critical environments is also welcome.

Tertiary qualifications in engineering, mathematics, statistics, data science, risk or a related quantitative discipline.

Practical experience in safety risk modelling, probabilistic risk assessment or systems safety in complex/high-hazard contexts.

Proven governance of software-based models/databases, including change, validation, supplier and continuity controls.

Strong capability in data stewardship, statistical analysis and visualisation, translating findings into actionable advice.

Excellent facilitation, negotiation, training and communication for technical, operational and executive audiences; ability to challenge misuse and secure consensus.

Understanding of safety legislation, SFAIRP reasoning, standards or comparable risk-based decision frameworks.

Also valued: Direct experience with ALCAM, ARRM, level-crossing risk, rail safety data or national technical committee governance.
