Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Nurse unit Manager to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) ongoing basis.

We are seeking an experienced and agile Nurse Unit Manager - Macalister Unit to lead the delivery of high-quality, recovery-focused mental health care within a specialised inpatient setting. Responsible for the operational, clinical, financial, and workforce management of the Macalister Unit, you will provide strategic leadership to multidisciplinary teams, drive quality improvement initiatives, and ensure the provision of safe, person-centred care. This leadership role offers an opportunity to influence service development, support staff excellence, and improve outcomes for consumers receiving acute mental health and psychogeriatric care.

The role of the Nurse Unit Manager is to:

- Provide overall clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for the Macalister Unit, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, recovery-oriented mental health care.
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams through effective workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, supervision, and professional development.
- Manage unit performance, including budgets, staffing, quality indicators, accreditation requirements, risk management activities, and compliance with legislative and regulatory standards.
- Drive quality improvement, clinical governance, research, and service development initiatives that enhance consumer outcomes and support best-practice mental health care.
- Build strong partnerships with consumers, carers, community agencies, clinicians, and stakeholders to support integrated and person-centred care pathways.
- Oversee patient flow, clinical review processes, reduction of restrictive interventions, aged care compliance requirements, and implementation of evidence-based care practices.

About you

Ideal candidates for this role will have:





- Registered Nurse (Division 1) with current AHPRA registration and postgraduate qualifications in Mental Health Nursing.
- Extensive mental health nursing experience, including a minimum of five years' clinical experience and demonstrated success in leadership and management roles.
- Strong knowledge of contemporary mental health practice, recovery-oriented care, clinical governance, quality improvement frameworks, and relevant legislation including the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, develop, and support multidisciplinary teams while fostering a positive workplace culture.
- Demonstrated experience managing budgets, resources, change initiatives, performance improvement activities, and complex operational challenges.
- Highly developed communication, stakeholder engagement, and decision-making skills, with a commitment to delivering exceptional consumer-centred mental health care.
