About the role

The Placement Coordinator position is an exciting opportunity to be part of TrEd College.

The Placement Coordinator is responsible for clinical placements for all learners enrolled in TrEd College Diploma of Nursing Program and a range of activities, which directly and indirectly support learning and enhance the education process. The Placement Coordinator will liaise with the Head of Nursing to ensure placements are coordinated promptly by using a system organised between TrEd College and the Facility/Hospitals.

The Placement Coordinator will also be involved in preparing and delivering safe and effective training and assessment to learners enrolled in the Diploma of Nursing program and provide suitable training support services to complement learner’s individual needs while on Clinical placement.

What you'll be doing

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Coordinate with the Head of Nursing and Course Coordinator to determine the number of student placements needed at each semester, level, and type of experience needed (e.g., Aged care, Mental health, Sub-acute care, acute care, etc).

- Identify facility requirements at each clinical placement location, such as orientation and WHS training, and communicate these clinical entry requirements to Trainers and student groups in a timely manner. Keep a record of these facility requirements, updating them as required when the facility changes its expectations.

- Visit Health Service Providers and evaluate the quality of students’ clinical placement and student performance.

- Communicate via email, phone,



and/or in person with nurse educators and /or placement managers in hospitals and clinics to develop clinical placements.

- Utilize the system to put in requests for groups of students and for precepted positions to meet facility deadlines.

- Confirm placements with nurse educators and /or placement managers in hospitals and clinics institutions by timely follow-up communications.

- Communicate confirmed or changed clinical placement agreements with the Head of Nursing, National Training Manager, Course Coordinator – Nursing and Nursing Trainers for all placements.

- Attend meetings for academic and placement throughout the year when they occur. Attend CPD as scheduled to keep registration, knowledge, skills, and information current. Update resume and staff matrix on a regular basis and update them with the Head of Nursing regularly. Attend mandatory staff appraisal with the Head of Nursing and National Training Manager.

- Report non-compliance with legislation or TrEd College policies and procedures immediately to the Chief Executive Officer.

- Ensure that the contract with all facilities is current. Build relationships with recent facilities and primary health care providers. Facilitate agreement signing for learners at TrEd College for their clinical placement.





- Communicate any issue to the Head of nursing that may arise while learners are at Clinical placement in a timely manner.

- Maintain industry currency as required by regulatory body.

What we're looking for

- Bachelors or Post Graduate qualification in Nursing

- Current Registered Nurse with AHPRA

- Cert IV TAE (desirable)

- Organised and able to work independently to achieve the goals of the role

- Knowledge of educational technologies and web-based learning management systems is highly desirable

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and sound computer literacy

- Model ethical and professional behaviour to set the benchmark of these qualities for learners and others
