About our client
Our client is a Registered Native Title Body Corporate based in Perth, with its work primarily focused across the Pilbara region of Western Australia. The organisation represents Traditional Owners in matters relating to native title, heritage and environmental management associated with mining activity in the region. It works closely with mining companies, government and other stakeholders to protect and record cultural heritage, while building opportunities and resources that benefit Traditional Owners over the longer term.

The organisation currently employs a small, growing team, including Traditional Owners based outside Perth, and is continuing to expand its own in-house heritage and environment capability so that more of this work can be managed internally over time. This is a purposeful workplace for someone who wants to make a genuine difference for Traditional Owners while working within a complex operational and regulatory environment.

About the prospect
This is an opportunity to lead the heritage and environment function for a Traditional Owner corporation, supporting a current Cultural Heritage Officer and helping to build an in-house heritage capability that reduces reliance on external providers over time. You will work closely with Traditional Owners, mining companies, government and other stakeholders, and will play a key role in coordinating heritage survey engagements and building trusted relationships across a complex operating environment. The role also has scope to grow and specialise further as the organisation grows.

In this role, you will:





- Establish relationships with Traditional Owners and build trust across mining and heritage processes.
- Develop productive working relationships with mining companies, government, consultants and other stakeholders.
- Coordinate heritage survey engagements, including planning, logistics and stakeholder communication.
- Contribute to building an in-house heritage and environment function, including systems and processes.
- Support and provide structure to a Cultural Heritage Officer's work.
- Day to day, you will provide structure and support for planning, documentation and processes across heritage matters, align systems between the organisation, mining companies and external heritage providers, and work collaboratively with the organisation's cultural projects function on related opportunities.

About you
You will bring a genuine interest in, and understanding of, working within a mining context, alongside a commitment to supporting Traditional Owners in heritage and environmental matters.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- A tertiary qualification in archaeology or anthropology is preferred, although candidates with other relevant, certificate level or in progress qualifications,



orgraduates with relevant experience, are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with, or a strong understanding of, Traditional Owners and the native title and heritage legislative environment.
- The ability to work productively within a mining context and with mining
- People management experience or capability.
- A willingness to travel regularly to the Pilbara.

What's on offer
This role offers the opportunity to help shape a growing in-house heritage and environment function, with genuine scope to build systems, capability and long- term outcomes for Traditional Owners. The organisation is willing to support the right candidate's development, including training a graduate with relevant qualifications and some practical experience. Travel to the Pilbara is normally two to four days at a time, roughly every three weeks, with flights, accommodation and other travel costs covered, plus a travel allowance based on ATO rates, and you will be home for weekends on almost all occasions. The position is deliberately structured with room to grow and specialise further as the organisation expands.
