Lead product design for the people keeping repair work moving

PartsCheck connects collision repairers with automotive parts suppliers across Australia. Our customers use the platform to request and compare quotes, order parts and manage the work that follows. They rely on it throughout their working day.

We're looking for a Product Design Lead to shape that experience, develop our design capability and help bring our products into a more connected platform.

The opportunity

You’ll lead product design at PartsCheck, reporting to the Head of Product and joining the leadership team. You’ll set design direction, manage and coach one Product Designer, and work closely with product managers and engineers.

This is a hands‑on leadership role. You’ll spend most of your time understanding customer problems, exploring ideas, designing detailed interactions and helping the team deliver them. You’ll also shape the standards, priorities and ways of working that help design succeed.

The work has real depth. A workshop owner needs to compare parts and get an order away quickly. A supplier needs to work through a busy quote queue. A repair group needs a consistent process across its sites. You’ll get into those environments, understand the trade‑offs and design experiences that help people work with confidence.

What you’ll do

- Set the direction. Build a clear vision for the product experience and work with product and engineering to turn it into practical priorities.

- Get close to customers. Visit workshops and parts departments, lead discovery and usability testing,



and bring what you learn into product decisions.

- Design the important work yourself. Lead improvements to quoting, job‑based workflows, order management and the supplier experience, with care for interaction, visual quality, accessibility and the details that make complex screens usable.

- Explore and test ideas. Use AI coding tools to build working prototypes, compare approaches and learn with real customers.

- Develop another designer. Provide clear direction, constructive critique and regular coaching, with responsibility for their performance and growth.

- Build quality into delivery. Work closely with engineers through implementation, evolve our design system and use feedback after release to keep improving the product.

What you’ll bring

- A portfolio of shipped software showing strong visual and interaction design, including complex workflows or information‑rich interfaces.

- Experience setting design direction and leading work from an ambiguous problem through delivery and iteration.

- Evidence that your customer research and usability testing have shaped product decisions.

- Experience coaching or managing designers, and the ability to combine your own design work with responsibility for someone else’s development.





- Sound product judgement: you can balance customer needs, business goals and engineering constraints, and explain the choices you make.

- Practical fluency with contemporary design tools and AI‑assisted prototyping, including enough HTML, CSS and JavaScript to refine working prototypes.

- Experience developing reusable design patterns and systems, with accessibility part of your everyday work.

Experience designing for marketplaces is a bonus. B2B software, operational tools or automotive industry experience would also be useful. Curiosity about our customers and the ability to learn their world are essential.
