Our client is a leading financial services organisation with a strong focus on its people, customers and partners. As the organisation continues to invest in its people services, technology and processes, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Services Specialist to join its People & Culture team.
This is a hands‑on payroll role with genuine scope to make an impact.
You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services to a large employee population, while also helping identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and enhance the employee experience.
About the role
Working as part of a specialist People Services team, you’ll play a key role in the end‑to‑end delivery of fortnightly payroll and related services.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing and maintaining fortnightly payroll for a large employee population, ensuring payments are accurate, timely and compliant.
- Managing payroll adjustments, new starters, terminations, leave reconciliations, parental leave payments and one‑off payments such as bonuses, commissions and referrals.
- Monitoring timesheet and scheduling data and resolving discrepancies before payroll processing.
- Supporting the integration and accuracy of data between Workforce Management, HRIS and payroll systems.
- Applying relevant payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation requirements, Awards and Enterprise Agreements.
- Providing guidance to People & Culture and business stakeholders on Award and Enterprise Agreement interpretation.
- Supporting changes to policies, Awards and agreements within the payroll system.
- Responding to employee and stakeholder enquiries through the organisation's service platform, providing timely and high‑quality resolutions.
- Managing end‑of‑fortnight, month‑end and year‑end payroll processes and reporting.
- Investigating payroll issues and errors, identifying root causes and helping implement preventative controls.
- Supporting payroll risk management, control activities and operational assurance processes.
About you
You’re an experienced payroll professional who takes pride in getting the detail right while providing a genuinely positive service experience.
- 5+ years' payroll experience, preferably supporting a workforce of 1,000+ employees.
- Strong experience across the end‑to‑end payroll lifecycle.
- Demonstrated experience with Time & Attendance systems.
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, including taxation, superannuation, leave and employment conditions.
- Experience interpreting multiple Awards and/or Enterprise Agreements.
- Extensive payroll systems experience; Dayforce/Ceridian Dayforce experience is highly desirable.
- Strong Excel and general systems capability.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Solid organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
